An adventure in the Northwest

Here you can find two different programs to visit the Argentine Northwest area with a touch of adventure. In both programs transportation is made in 4 by 4 vehicles, specially adapted to go around the exotic Puna salteña.

It is a fantasy region: the dazzling Puna desert with huge dunes, ideal for the practice of sandboard; the Salar de Arizaro – the biggest in Argentina – an endless salt pan reflecting the special colour of the sky.
The trip continues to see the Cono de Arita (Arita´s Cone) emerging amidst the salt pan. It is a natural pyramid, almost perfect in its shape; the unbelievable Ojos de Mar (Sea eyes), small ponds lagoons in the middle of the Salar del Tolar. An important scientific discovery was made there as its waters contain lively stromatolites, Stromatolites are layered accretionary structures formed in shallow water by the trapping, binding and cementation of sedimentary grains, the oldest and most intriguing fossils on Earth.

During the trip the rich native fauna of the region can be observed. Lots of foxes, llamas, wild cats, guanacos, vicunas, pink flamingos, suris and others species wander freely through the Puna region.
